When Condor rescheduled their sailings this weekend they did not realise that it would affect an important sporting weekend for Guernsey’s youngsters.
Condor had looked at the adult sporting schedule and have worked to maintain schedules for events such as the Muratti and Siam Cup. What they did not realise was that there are also a number of important sporting events for the Channel Islands youngsters.
The rescheduling of this Sunday’s ferry services could have seen the end of the Guernsey FA youngsters football tournament in Jersey.
However, our Director with responsibility for group travel, Mandy Eulenkamp, brought the matter to the attention of Condor Ferries immeadiately the change was made. After many phonecalls back and forth up until late Thursday evening the schedules have been re-arranged so that the fixtures can go ahead.
Ian le Moigne from Condor ferries says:
‘On Sunday, 23 April, we have scheduled a Jersey-Guernsey sailing in the evening using Commodore Clipper to accommodate a large group of youngsters, parents and supporters, returning from a minis football tournament in Jersey.’
‘We have worked very closely with all our travel trade partners on this initiative, in particular with Mandy Eulenkamp at TravelSolutions, to ensure that such inter-island sporting fixtures continue to take place and thrive.’
