If you’ve landed on this page, the chances are you’re over 50 and interested in travel … and you’re in the right place because SilverSolutions is dedicated to the 50+ traveller.
I’m Amanda Eulenkamp, and I’m the Director who heads up SilverSolutions.
Why a dedicated department for the 50+ traveller?
Well, first of all I am a ‘Silver Traveller’ myself – and I became really interested in the idea of specialising in this market after I attended the 2016 ABTA Convention which had a whole part solely on this area of the market, and I’ve recently attended a one-day ABTA seminar purely dedicated to this area of the market.
The 50+ traveller is often free for the first time in many years – children have grown up, fled the nest (although increasingly returning to home and living with parents), mortgages have been paid or nearly paid, and retirement is either fast approaching or, indeed, is being enjoyed. Whilst final salary pensions may be fewer than years ago, it is often a time when there is some disposable income to spend on holidays.
And what holidays the 50+ travellers are going on! This is often a time to indulge a passion (walking, going on wine tours, visiting the Galapagos islands, seeing the Northern Lights, indulging in a trip on the Orient Express, climbing Kilimanjaro, taking the cruise of a lifetime). It is often about experiences rather than destination – so that Italian cookery course you’ve always dreamt about but couldn’t fit in around the family holidays, is suddenly a reality.
And with people living longer nowadays, how about the multi-generational holiday? Cruises are great for this, and I say this from experience when I was a 30-something, travelling across Canada in a camper van followed by an Alaskan cruise, with my parents and children.
I’m enjoying the freedom of not being tied to school holidays, and if this is you, too, then it is a fact that many places are better value for money in off-peak times. Why not visit the Alps in the spring or autumn, out of the ski season and wonder in their beauty?
My team and I hope you’ll contact us to discuss your dreams, your plans, your wish-list.
We’re here to turn them into reality.
